Renaming PDFs using extracted text from PDF documents
If you need to rename one or multiple PDF files, you can use our v1/pdf/edit/add
endpoint. We have provided tutorials for both Zapier and Integromat below:

If you need to rename a PDF based on a unique identifier such as a reference number
, you can use our Document Parser
to extract the identifier. Our walkthrough video shows you how to use the Document Parser Online Template Editor. Once you have created the template, you can follow the steps below to rename your PDF file(s).
Zapier
If you're using Zapier, you can use our Document Parser
to extract a unique identifier from your PDF files. Here are the steps:
- Copy the Template ID for your Document Parser template.
- Add the PDF.co Document Parser action event to your Zapier workflow.
- Enter the URL of the PDF file you want to extract the identifier from.
- Enter the Template ID you copied earlier.
- Test the step to make sure it returns the reference number.
- Proceed to follow this tutorial to rename your PDF file using the reference number.
Integromat/Make
If you're using Integromat, you can also use our Document Parser
to extract a unique identifier from your PDF files. Here are the steps:
- Copy the Template ID for your Document Parser template.
- Add the PDF.co Parse a Document module to your scenario.
- Enter the URL of the PDF file you want to extract the identifier from.
- Enter the Template ID you copied earlier.
- Run the scenario to make sure it returns the reference number.
- Proceed to follow this tutorial to rename your PDF file using the reference number.
